Roots to Rise™

Interrupted Potential Pathway™

When life interrupts the road, we help reconnect the path.

Potential does not disappear because life happens.

A death in the family. Illness. Financial hardship. Displacement. Family instability. Interrupted schooling. Early parenthood. Migration. Incarceration. Loss of housing. Caregiving responsibilities.

Sometimes a person who was thriving suddenly finds themselves surviving.

The Interrupted Potential Pathway™ exists for individuals whose education, career, vocation, talent, or personal development was disrupted by circumstances that changed the direction of their lives.

This is not about deciding what someone should become.

It is about helping them rediscover what remains within them, determine where they want to go now, and identify the missing pieces needed to move forward.

The Question We Ask

We begin with the person, the path, and the missing piece.

We do not begin with

“What can we give you?”

We begin with

“Where were you going before life interrupted the road?”

Then we ask

“Is that still where you want to go?”

“What part of the bridge is missing?”

The Pathway

Five steps to rediscover gifts, remove barriers, and build forward.

1

Discover the Story

We learn what happened.

Not merely where the individual is today, but what their trajectory looked like before the interruption.

  • What were they studying?
  • What were they building?
  • What talents had already emerged?
  • What dreams were taking shape?
  • What changed?
2

Rediscover the Gifts

Through conversation, mentorship, skills evaluation, and the Find Your Place Assessment™, participants explore:

  • Natural strengths
  • Academic abilities
  • Skilled trades
  • Creative talents
  • Leadership potential
  • Communication abilities
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Career interests
  • Vocational interests
  • Existing skills developed through survival and lived experience

The goal is not to return someone blindly to an old dream.

The goal is to help them determine whether the original road still fits—or whether life has revealed another one.

3

Identify the Interruption

We determine what is actually preventing forward movement.

The missing piece may be:

  • Education
  • Certification
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Technology
  • Documentation
  • Childcare
  • Mentorship
  • Professional exposure
  • Exam preparation
  • Mental wellness support
  • Career guidance
  • A skilled-trade opportunity
  • Or simply someone willing to help connect the pieces
4

Reconnect the Path

THE SHODIPO~ASIMOLOWO FOUNDATION does not seek to duplicate resources that already exist.

We identify what is already being provided, locate what remains missing, and work with community partners, educational institutions, professionals, tradespeople, mentors, organizations, and families to help close the gap.

DON’T CHASE VALUE, BRING VALUE!!!

5

Build Forward

Success is not defined only by returning someone to school or placing them in a job.

Success means helping an individual move toward sustainable:

Purpose. Direction. Opportunity. Impact. Legacy.
Academic and Vocational Paths Belong Together

We refuse to reduce people to the circumstances in which we found them.

A young person working as a bricklayer may also be an extraordinary public speaker.

A caregiver may also be an entrepreneur.

A formerly incarcerated woman may already possess a marketable trade.

A student who left school may have developed valuable skills while surviving.

Survival skills are still skills.

The Interrupted Potential Pathway™ recognizes both academic and vocational potential and allows the individual—not the Foundation—to determine which direction their life should take.

Who This Pathway May Serve

The Interrupted Potential Pathway™ may support individuals whose trajectory was disrupted by:

  • Death of a parent or caregiver
  • Family illness
  • Poverty or sudden financial hardship
  • Housing instability or homelessness
  • Interrupted education
  • Family separation or displacement
  • Migration
  • Early parenthood or caregiving responsibilities
  • Incarceration or reentry
  • Loss of employment
  • Community instability
  • Personal or family crisis
  • Other major life disruptions

Every story is different. Therefore, every pathway may be different.

The Foundation Principle

We are not here to rescue people.

We are here to recognize capacity, restore access, create connections, and remove barriers so that people can continue building their own lives.

The interruption is part of the story.

It does not have to become the ending.

Find Your Place Assessment™

Discover the direction that fits now.

For individuals who are uncertain whether their previous direction still fits, the Find Your Place Assessment™ can help identify strengths across academic, professional, vocational, entrepreneurial, creative, leadership, and service-oriented pathways.

Discover Gifts. Restore Direction. Rebuild Opportunity.
